    help help help!......

Desperately need a top view of a 71 grabber hood. I have been searching in vain to find a top view that shows the Semi-gloss paint scheme. This way I can print it and take it to the body shop tomorrow.

    Thanks for your help!

My 71 grabber hood is semi-gloss but it is a respray, I am pretty sure that they are supposed to be semi-gloss though. The plastic inserts in the scoops are not painted but after 30+ years of fading they are going to get painted.

When the cars were new, we called the Black portions of the blackout. If you do decide to paint it flat black, it is a total pain to care for. In cases like this, I use Dupont Centari 99A, which is gloss black, and then add a flattening agent. I also use this for painting wheelhouses etc. With the flattening agent you can make it flat black or semigloss. Just takes a little practice to get your end result. The scoops are body color, with the fake air intake portions flat black.

My '71 Grabber's hood was originally semi-gloss, but when I decided to do a repaint I decided to go with gloss. I think it looks better and its far easier to look after.

That is not only sweet, but it is gorgeous. I really like the colors, and the gloss black is awesome. Thinking of going solid black on my grabber hood cause that part of the car is black. But I am entertaining the thought of some red pearl tossed in the area that is gloss black on your pic.

Finally after months, the body shop is ready to paint my 71 grabber hood.

I really need a photo from a TOP view of a grabber hood showing the pattern of the semi-gloss black section so I can print it off and take it to the body shop tomorrow.

BTW, the stripe is 1/4" wide w/ a 1/4" gap to the center portion of the decal. The overall length including stripe is 47 1/4" down the center of the hood. Width of the narrow portion at the front is 20 1/4" and increases to 23" just before it curves outward. The wider portion at the rear is 26" just after the curve, increasing to 27" at the very rear of the decal. All measurements include the gap and the stripe. Hope this helps.
