I have had my maverick since june and have made a lot of progress on it and thanks to this site I am learning more and more everyday. I am borderline obsessed with mavericks now!:biglaugh: I have been talking about them to my friends trying to get them to buy a muscle car instead of a 4 banger. I talked my friend in to a maybe getting a maverick and he found one on craigslist and it says 1971 maverick grabber original. It looks original everything as far as I know looks right and untouched but I was confused that it hade a 250 inline 6? was there grabbers that had an inline?

More Grabbers were built with 6 cylinder engines then V8's

In fact - all 1970 model Grabbers had 6's, as the 302 was not offered until the 71's were in production.

Any pictures of the Grabber? What colour is it? The VIN should have the 3rd and 4th digits read "93" if it is a REAL 71 Grabber. This identification was not present on the 70 Grabbers, but was in the 71-75 Grabbers. A regular 2-door will have "91" instead of "93".

And yes, the 6 cylinder was in a lot of Grabbers. Mine came with a 200cid.

Yep - no 4 barrel carbs - no dual exhaust - no 4 speed transmissions regardless of what some people will tell you their hot rod Grabber came stock with back in the 70's :)

They made some with 351s and a few with 302 Boss motors. I know this to be a fact because a guy told me at a car show. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::16suspect
