I am going to paint the rust free doors I have for my Grabber. I was wondering if anyone had the stripes for the doors only (black,1972)? I have been looking for some pinstriping that is 2 3/8" wide to match but can not find any. I could probably go to a sign place and have them made but I don't know how close of a match I can get of the gloss. I don't want to paint them on because it won't look right next to the old decal stripes. The Spookster needs help!!!!

Your car still has the factory stripes on the sides doesn't it? Not sure if anything new would match 33 year old vinyl 100% .... Don't use NOS stripes ... you could end up ruining your new paint ... Is the new paint on the doors gonna match the rest of the car? I think a sign shop is the way to go. There is a flea market near me that does all kinds of car graphics in vinyl ... just make sure you use automotive grade stuff .....

Dan, the paint will match. The stripes will probably be a little off but it is better than having the rust. The car, as you know, is far from perfect. I just want to keep it going till I get The Mav done in a decade or so.

Nick ... you just put that hood decal on last year. How does that compare to the side stripes?

It looks fine. But it also is not right up against the old stripe like the doors will be. I was just wondering if anyone had a partial set of decals they were willing to sell or if anyone had a better idea than me where to get the stripes without buying the whole set.

I shouldn't say this, but I had a set of NOS '72 Grabber doors stripes, in Black, but I couldn't figure out what to do with them.....so I stuck them on the inside of my garage door, and a big metal cabinet I have...Damn.....

Unfortunatly I am not going to make it to the Ohio swap meet. You will have to send them to me. PM me with your address and I will send you a money order for the amount. My zip code is 22015 for shipping.

I think I did get them for free, I live about 10 mins from the St. Thomas assembly plant, and during the 70's alot of guys had the bad habit of bringing parts home in their lunch boxes, Over the years I've had all kinds of Maverick and Pinto stuff, ties rods, gas caps, stripes, stickers, etc etc, and actually there is a guy around the corner form me that has almost every Maverick engine compartment sticker on the backside of hi garage door. Oh yeah...they are reflective...

ahhhh, now it makes more sense. Its ok, im sure the guys who bought p-51s as war surplus and cut them up back in "the day" are kicking themselves nowadays as well.
