Greetings all, this is my 1st post and I joined because my car stable is Maverick/Comet deprived and I thought this group may help me find one. Well I've found one in my area and have a few questions about thought maybe some of ya'll could help me with:
    1. How many 74's came equipeed with bucket seats and floor shift?
    2. If there is a rectangular shaped chrome trim box on the roof was there originally a vinyl top there?
    3. Was the 250 six the stardard 6 cyl or is it an upgrade from the 200?
    4. The car has light blue interior and has been painted a light blue was there a tu-tone paint option available?
    5. The car has no rust in quarters or doors or floors the body has some hail dents (Texas Car0 and a few granny dents but is otherwise solid and runs/drives great is this a $1500.00 car?
Thanks Youre Help Wil Be Appreciated

Greetings Welcome to the Maverick Comet forums, I would have to see some pictures of the car to make a true determination of it's value, but it sounds like it probally is worth $1500.

There were 3 sizes of inline 6's available: 170, 200, and 250 c.i. Within the first few production years (not sure of the exact year) the 200 replaced the 170 as the base model motor offered. The 250 is an upgrade to the 200. Don't know if you care, but, from what I've heard it's a lot more expensive to build a six than a V-8 and the power gains just aren't comparable. However, a built six would be something out of the ordinary. Welcome to the forum!(y)

    Is it a 2-door ... What's the VIN? Possibly it's a repainted Grabber ...

Howdy. The 200 was the standard engine in 74 so the 250 is an upgrade. The vinyl roof for a 2 door in 74 was just on the top flat surface. It did not wrap on to any vertical panels. The stainless trim was not there without the vinyl roof, from the factory. There are no 2 tone options listed in the 74 brochure, although the Grabbers were close to 2 tone.
I sure like your list of Falcons. I had a bunch of them back in the early 70's.

Welcome! I ordered my first '74 Maverick Grabber new with Bucket seats and floor shifter. There weren't that many that I can remember. There were many with buckets and a column shifter and some a bench and a 3 speed on the floor. I dont think there is a breakdown on options for Mavericks. However, I know that out of 301,048 cars for '74, 23,502 were Grabbers! The one I have now has deluxe interior with a bench seat and a column shifted automatic. Joe

Mansfield is southeast of Ft Worth about 12 miles. I hope to add a Maverick to my stable this weekend.
