Both of our Mavericks are 1977 models and they were both built at the Kansas City plant, 4 months apart. The 77' I've owned for 10 years has the MAVERICK emblem in the grill. From what I can remember, it had the original grill in it when I got it. The 77' we just bought definitely has the orginal grill, but no MAVERICK emblem in it. It has no marks in the slats to indicate it ever had an emblem either. Kind of odd, me thinks. That had me wondering...which year Mavericks came with the MAVERICK script emblem in thier grills? That's something I never really took notice of before, and now it has me bugged.:hmmm:

I've never had a 77, but I think someone said they didn't have any emblems anyware on the car. Weird...

I'm not 100% posative but I think mostly 72 models had the emblem in the grill like that one, they can be easily taken off of one model grill and put on another, all it takes is two bolts on the back side. Hope this helps.

my 76 just had a thin plastic bar down the center of the grill, no writing or symbols on it. . I poped it off the grill to give it a cleaner look. I think the 72 had the circle shaped emblem in the center. Matter of fact the only place that says maverick on the entire car is on the dash board, nothing on the outside at all

Of the cars I've parted out, by the time they had F O R D letters on the hood, the grille maverick with the orange branding iron look was gone. So that would be what, 1975?

I've owned 2 -77's....no maverick emblems on the grill, or anywhere else that I recall.

yeah my 76 had the FORD on the trunk and hood. theyve been replaced with a 72 hood and trunk which doesnt have the FORD. I didnt have any maverick or steer horn emblems anywhere on the out side of the car, just right above the glove box.

The Maverick logo on the grille stopped in '75. All cars with sport light grilles from '71-'74 had the Maverick emblem. At least this is what I have observed. '75 and up had FORD on the hood and trunk. The only Maverick emblem on the entire '75 and up cars was on the passenger side of the dash.

I thought the emblem went back on the fenders in '76. Atleast I have a '76 that I KNOW is all original (its been in the family) and it has emblems on the fenders. Also, my 77 4 door has emblems on the fenders. My dad has a '77 with the emblem on the taillight panel. Maybe this is a plant specific thing?

Your half right Randy, looking at my sources. I have dealer brochures for all years and I missed that on the 76 when I was going through them. However, the 77 brochure does not show any Maverick fender badges.
