Is the grill emblem 2 pieces? Like a emblem and then a base that contours the grill?
I am asking because I want a emblem on my Charlie Grill

No. The "base" is cast into a 1970-1972 standard grill.

Could you not do like the Maverick grille name plates use and run the back mounting studs through a round piece of steel or aluminum plate and mount the backing nuts to hold it in place? On my 70-72 grille I have the built in round plastic with the piece of stainless base popped riveted to it as Craig says .... all that holds the emblem on is mounting studs. I will be using some custom and Verrry Different on my style grille vs well worn or mint nos medallions which still aren't perfect for the prices.
