I have wondered how it would look to have a grille with neither the center emblem nor the lights, just plain. But this would unfortunately involve cutting up two grilles, and since I only have two and only one of them has any damage, I haven't had the heart to try it yet.

So... You can get the emblem from Ebay or post an ad in the classifieds here, Selvey's probably got one, or you want to try something different? I guess a hockey mask would be a little big, but that could be a conversation starter... Maybe a blue oval? I think I've seen a Maverick gas cap modified to fit there.

I would like to have something made that just says GT on it like the gas cap I've been looking at on E-bay. I'd want it to sit fairly flush and look like billett!

these are popular ideas down there since they had a Maverick GT instead of a 'Grabber' model. just search around in the gallery and you'll find some more neat ideas :)

I had the same problem. I didn't want to buy the correct emblem so I took a piece of aluminum flashing, cut it to the same size (round) as the place on the grille and painted it black. Then I took a spare Maverick emblem and cut the steerhead out of it with a Dremel, and glued it to the aluminum disc. I glued this to the grille and that was almost 10 years ago. If I can find a pic I'll post it.

Here's mine. I had a Medalion grill (with no medalion) and found a broken signal light grill at a salvage yard. I used a jig-saw to cut the centers out of both and there you have it.... Make sure to compensate for the blade thickness. Used some epoxy to fit everything back together.

Only took about an hour. Be aware, the horizontal grill 'slats' actually have a slightly different profile. The medalion grill is squared off while the signal grill was rounded (bull nose), if memory serves me correct. Although, it's impossible to see, especially at 65 mph.
