I have a '72 Maverick with the medallion in the middle of the grille and am considering replacing the grille with one with lights. I don't know if all year grilles fit the same mounts. Can someone tell me what years and trim level (Grabber, LDO, etc) grilles would have the lights and swap in? I'd like to be on the lookout for a good candidate. Thanks.

You want to stay away from 76 model grills as they have a bar up the middle and would not look good on your car. Basically there are 3 styles, black from the Grabber, Argent from standard cars and LDO with chrome edged fins. The lights are different from 75 up you will probably want the 71-74 lights with cross hair bezels. 71 and 72 Grabbers had clear lens with and was a fog light and not a turn signal.

I have had the LDO style with chrome edged fins and painted the fins black behind the chrome and gives itthe black chrome look.

I have an LDO grill and lights for sale if interested, of course you can paint them any color

Great info!! Thanks. I saw your stuff on your other post and on ebay. Looks good. I'll probably regret not jumping on those things. Just not quite ready because I have some expensive things going on with my car. I'll see what's up when the dust settles on the other issues.

    That bar is removable.

All grills with the lights in them all have the same shape. Just the basic differences Mike mentioned.

I second that. I have a later model grill and the center bar is just snapped in place, comes of easily. Though you may have to touch up the paint behind it.

I have a '72 comet, with a maverick front end on it. I used the LDO grill, painted the edges silver and the rest of the slats, black. Removed the center bar, and installed the driving lights without the big, gray, outer ring. Snapped it right in place, A little personal modify that looks stock if you don't know what you are looking at.

I know it's hard to see, but it's back there. This is a pix from a local (Seattle) mag of my car.

The way he did his grill is the same way that I did mine in my old 72 Grabber, they look nice.

I have 2 of them on ebay and am contemplating taking them off of ebay and painting them up, if anybody is interested let me know
