I'm hating the grill I have on my car right now, which is just as well as it's off and in the trunk. But while I don't hate it as much (not NEARLY), I also don't like the empty look without anything there. Does anyone know of any companies that make aftermarket grills for comets, or better yet can anyone give me pics of things they've done with their comets and/or mavs? The grill I've got is plastic and utterly fugly, so any ideas would be mucho appreciated. Thanks!! :tiphat:

No aftermarket grills... but I am trying to convince my boss to make me one at work...(I work at a waterjet cutting company, cut metal with high pressure water, and abrasives)

I made one out of this, it is Expanded Metal. I have to find out what company I got it from. The bad thing is that it comes in so many sizes & thickness that I had to spend extra money to send the wrong sizes back to the company. I posted a pic in my gallery but you can't see the grill because I had it painted flat black.

Looks pretty decent, and it shouldn't be hard to cut out any add-ons you might want out of it. I'm figuring I may just try to find something to put across it, even if it's just straight and not contoured to the hood, so I'm not showing off my (now broken) radiator and hood latch to the world.

What's wrong with the Comet grill? Broken? Silver color? Black color? Just asking...

Nothing's really wrong with it, I just don't like the way this one sits in there. It's also very flimsy plastic and I'm wanting, just for my own peace of mind, something a little more sturdy. It's just... aargh, it's mostly the reason why I wanted to change to a Mav front. I just don't like how it looks, but I'm thinking that maybe simply spraying it black or something might help. It's off now and I like that look better but...

    Just personal preference.

I was just curious. I like the looks of the Comet grill. Specially in black....The one in the picture, is a Comet GT grill. I also have one I painted all black. I prefer the all black look....

I have my own idea of what I'm going to do with my Comet GT grill. But since I have zero artistic skills, I cant really show you anything. The biggest problem with the stock grill is its flatness, I'm going to keep the basic lines but add some depth to it. Kinda like a 67 mustang grill.

I love that grill dude! Wish mine looked like that. I am currently looking into getting mine chromed. May be too costly though.

I like it! I'm with you and like the all black look, but this one would probably take some sanding and a bit of repair before it would look good. That's the least of my worries, but you've now shown me how the stock grill could be made to look good. :D Some good Krylon or Rustoleum and I'm good to go!

It also appears he has the three stainless strips that I have been unable to locate :( . All those squares makes it hard to get a good paint job, I tried, like 15 years ago.

Could you maybe spray it black and paint those individual lines on, or do you need special strips for it?

I just noticed something that escaped my attention before: I'm missing the chrome molding along the front of my hood. :slap:

    :shhh: Don't tell anyone!

He says they're in the trunk, but there's so much junk back there including all the car's mouldings that seemed to have been taken off badly (including a few that I want put back on). I haven't even bothered to look for them yet.
