well way back when i had a tach installed in the mav and since then its been removed. when i pulled it out i never reconnected the spliced wires and yea now i cant find one end of one of the connections. im looking to find out what wire number 14 controls. its on the plug on the back of the guages #14. there are two wires coming out of it one is labeld resistor the other is just plain black. the plain one is the one i cant find the other end.

i think it controls the running lights for the tailight and headlight on the pass side. since they are the only lights im missing.
im at the point where the next step is to remove the whole dash...but i really dont want to.

helppp....i have the wiring diagram but its not helping

The only thing I can think of that would use a resistive wire in that area would be power feed to the fuel gauge.

Hmmm...there aren't any wires that go to the instrument cluster that "control" the headlights. (High beam headlight wires are green with a black stripe and low beam are red with a black stripe. You will find a green/black wire going to the cluster for the hi beam light)

I believe the plain black wire is a ground wire and the resistance wire is either part of the alternator light circuit or the fuel gauge circuit...

For the passenger side headlight I would check the headlight itself as well as the connector...the contacts are probably corroded.
