I know "someone" with some parts that'd fit nicely with this and is in need of something that will withstand a 250 shot of dope.

You got me there. I would've thunked that they would accept existing heads.

Show's you how much I know about BOSS 302 blocks (didn't know they required specific BOSS heads  ).

Hmmmm..... there's no mention of the bolting pattern being different than standard (on that link).

Yeah but oil and coolant passages would have to line up if different ... I'm sure it uses a Boss specific gasket as well ...

the ad states "revised oiling and cooling system passageways". I assume 'revised' from the original to the 'normal' passageways? Maybe?

Dunno. We'll have to wait as news developes I suppose.

The bolt locations on boss heads is exactly the same as the regular windsor-style heads. ALL Ford small-blocks for that matter use the same head bolt patterns. Even the 400. Same bore spacing and everything. Coolant and oil return holes are a lil different though between the cleveland-style heads and the windsor-style heads, but mods are fairly easy to put C heads on a W block or vise versa. Even seen a few C blocks out there with "good" W heads on it...circle track stuff.

As an example, at one time I had an old 302 sitting on a stand out in the shop....junk block...but had 400 heads on it, with a 6-71 blower sitting between the heads. Just for kicks & giggles though, thing never ran. Yes the 400 heads bolted right up. Water ports weren't exactly right though, but I didn't care. I just wanted to see if they'd fit.

I wonder if the price will be on par with the Dart blocks? You can even get a Dart in aluminum now I believe....

Yeah, I talked with an NHRA guy the other day about those new boss blocks......ford svo blocks have been known for there lack of machine work, i'm wondering if it wouldn't be more cost effective to buy a dart or world block that would require less machine work.......

When were assembling mine their were 2 Dart blocks in the shop( 1 Ford, 1 Chevy) I remember the remarks that were made by the builder about how much less prep work the SVO block required versus the Darts. This could all be a matter of which day of they were made, who knows.
I thought ALL the main caps were 4 bolt on any original Boss block:huh:
