After 11 years I felt it was somewhat dubious that these Indy Profile SS's would retain enough softness to be useful. However, after taking the disc sander to them and applying 2 coats of Formula V, they actually retuned to their former durometer reading (using the 'finger' test..uuhum'). If only they were not so pressure sensitive. Anything approaching normal inflation pressures (26-32psi) causes them to wear the centers at an accelerated rate. They only begin to lay a flat contact patch at 20psi and below. Fine for strip work, but impractical for much in town driving. Foul weather has prevented any "parking lot" test launches, but I'm hopeful for a successful test. -155 PS: For you Puget Sounders.....Yes, D. Ewing still recommends McCreary dirt track tires for s/s duty, but hey....why not get some more runs out of these? s! ss! I wonder if he's still running his 10 second Corvette? Humm. Phhiiittt-bang!
Test completed! Hhumm, how can I put this in scienific terms? How about this....they hook up like a M@th@ F@ck@r!!! I used a dry launch. They will probably spin with the sauce on, but I'll just walk 'em out of the hole first, then juice it. We're back in business.
I'm trying! But without a chaser convoy to bring my supplies, it makes it a bit tough. Driving down with the radials in front and the bias in back....well let's just say I could get pulled over for suspicion of DUI.
