I'm wondering if there's a way to intall a new Tail Housing Bushing without having to remove the old one? I've read where people will put the new Bushing on the yoke and use the dshaft like a big slide hammer and drive the old one in past the seat and the new one into its place. True? I've tried finding a bushing removal tool to rent with no luck. The Tranny shops I've called all want $150+ which seem rediculous. Can a simple 3 arm puller be used?

Anyone? I'm on a tight budget (as always) and don't really want to drop more money than I have to.

What did you use to drive in the new one? Does it only have to go in deep enough for the oil slots to line up?

I've done it using a yoke & a BFH with TWO bushings on it(You'll ruin the one that's closest to the back end due to the chamfer on the yoke)...

Word of warning though, cut the one you are installing to approx 3/4 length... That's so the original doesn't fall out and ride on the output shaft... About a 100 years ago I had a Falcon that ate speedo gears, was due to a bushing someone had installed prior to me getting the car, was riding back & forth on the output shaft...
