Hi Guys , I'm working out the final bugs on my car when I noticed that my BRAND NEW B&M Hammer shifter did not go into first gear. This is an AOD and was shifting hard( a few too many turns in the cable) I unhooked the cable and moved the shifter up and down the pattern. Then I noticed the shifter did not go to first gear position. It stops solidly in secondly in or out of the car. Do any of you have any suggestions

i believe there is two different tranny brackets for this, so make sure you are using the correct one for the AOD. And when you adjust it, you should be in 1st gear. if trying to adjust it from park or neutral you will find that it wont go into 1st, or it might but only partially.

Thanks for the reply , My problem is that even with the shifter out of the car the shifter will not drop into the 1'st gear detent on the shifter, just like it's hitting a stop but I can't see what stopping it

Well every day is chance to learn something. I learned that even though the AOD is a 4 speed transmission there are only 3 forward shift positions. According to some other web sights, 2nd gear is hidden. To get to 2nd gear and hold it you must start in the 1st move into the DRIVE position and the back to 1st @ 2700 or so RPM, which is then 2nd gear at which time you can upshift to DRIVE (third gear). Apparently they call this a 1-d-1 shuffle. So now I know that the HAMMER only uses 3 forward detents and there is nothing wrong with my shifter. GO FIGURE A 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT USES A 3 SPEED SHIFTER :hmmm:
