You know the ones that everything went wrong? So you go out to the garage to work on the car and things start going wrong there. Well in the end you actually accomplish something and you're excited by it...but still all the little things throughout the day still eat at you. Well that was me today. Maybe it's depression? Anyhow, I found out the 6 cylinder clutch fork isn't going to work in my car. But I did trial fit the motor and it looks like everything else may be falling together. It's nice to see it in the engine bay...even though I know it's going to be in and out at least 2 more times before it's permanent. So tell me what you guys think of the shock tower move...but be kind, I'm in a mood. Anyhow, if there is anyone out there with a clutch fork for a v8 Maverick please let me know and name your price. Thanks for bareing with me...
On the other hand, it looks GREAT! Love the shock tower modifications, too. Looks really good all painted up The engine looks clean enough to eat off of
Your towers came out better than mine did. I had one of those days two weeks ago when I took the Comet to the strip for the first time. Backed the car off the trailer, realized then I never ran the vacuum line to the C-4's modulator valve. Called the trans guy, he said shift it manually. Pulled up to the line, did a burnout. Director at the line making hand gestures (had windows up so couldn't hear him) rolled window down, told me I couldn't run with short pants Choke stuck shut in the burnout. Car didn't want to stay runnin. Backed off line. Let the bro-in-law drive. He did a 15.66 @85 couldn't get it into 3rd gear. We swapped pants in the parking lot ( to the sounds of Hoots n Hollers from his wife ) Pulled up to line, did burnout. Staged in the lights, line director making hand gestures AGAIN rolled windows down, told me I had to have a helmet with a sub 13.99 dial in (races had started so had to put somethin on the windo--13.70 ) He let me go ahead, car next to me was a 70's Courgar with a Cleveland. He red lited. I took off, felt good in 1st, when I tried to shift to 2nd, musta hit reverse, loud bang, engine died, car went sideways with the spooled rearend, straightened it out coasted to the end. Looked under car, nothing amiss. Drove it back to pits and decided not to go further and break something. While driving off the lot, the tower was calling the car number to run again. Later when home found the C-4 to live up to it's expectations, sure 'nuf broke something.
after loosing 4 tires on the way to tucson, then an alternator belt before the first run, then red lighting first round, i expect to do better tonight. have one for me tony
