I doubt it would work since that's where all the pressure is. Best bet would be to replace the head gasket imo.
Not leaking into the crank case. It's a 95' Musstang 3.8. I've heard these are notorious for blowing head gaskets and I believe it. This is the third set on it now.
A 3.8 V6 will blow the head gaskets between 80 amd 120k miles,, take them off send them for a valve grind and have them checked for cracks, and mill the gasket surface,, Use Felpro HS-8857 PT-8 head gasket set, and your good after that,, we get almost 200k miles out of an engine after that,, they are very reliable just that Ford used a crapola gasket durring manufacturing,,
Thanks Joe. I'm hoping get a temporary fix untill I can do the heads again. Cash is a little short in supply right now. I am about to try BARS sealant. I'll keep you posted.
GM had a sealing issue with the Caddy 4.1 V8. Go to a GM dealer and they have a super sealant available that should work better or as well as BARS stop leak
OK.....The motor is still getting hot, but not nearly as bad. and I have watched the water level and it has stayed full. What else could this sealant possibly clogged up (or most likely clogged) that I could change or check..
Not much to check/unclog unless you want to pull it apart. You can/should check/replace/remove the T-stat.If you pull the T-stat the system wont go to 16 psi and that may help the head gasket problem for a while but, ultimately its just a crutch. You could try leaving the radiator cap loose or putting a lower pressure one on it to keep the coolant from pumping past the head gaskets.once again its just a crutch.good luck.If it clogged anything it would be the heater core...
what you have going on is,, your getting combustion gasses into your water jacket, 2 things, 1 those gasses produce very corosive by-product, and is going to take that engine apart from the inside,, either the Alloy parts are going to get eaten away,, or your going to drive it and when you shut it off one of the cylinders are going to fill up with coolant and when you go to crank it,, your going to Hydro lock the engine,, then your looking at a possible bent conecting rod, and or just flat out scrapping the engine,, Best advise is Just park it, pick up a cheap Cougar/T-bird or another Mustang that has a rear wheel drive 3.8 V6 for a couple of hundred bucks, use that untill your funds are available and if you did by chance scrap out your engine,, you have one in the car you picked up cheap,, Just change the gaskets before installing that engine in your Mustang,,:Handshake
Good point. I have a kit that reads the levels of combusted air in the radiator and thats how I found out the head gasket was going out. I'm not getting a reading on it now. I am looking for another motor now and will DEFINATLY use your advice on the Fel-Pro gaskets when it goes together. Thanks.
Well I have not lost anymore coolant. New radiator, water pump and t-stat (180 deg). But its still running hotter than normal. Any ideas?
