    headers and 4r70w (updated)

Ok I have the engine and 4r70w ready to go in however doing some test fitting before that happens. I bent the driverside out about an 1" and its still very close to the shift lever. I'm using a B&M shifter and the cable is really close to the collector exit. About .5" away maybe closer, the collector would run best if I can bent it down 1". So my question is how much can I bent the headers out and down on both sides before I hit stuff. I'm running the usual hooker headers. Thanks

I bent mine quite a bit on my first car... maybe 2 inches. I had a fmx transmission and the clearance just wasn't there. I heated up the collector just sfter where it meets the primaries

I have a T5 because on my preliminary mockup, the 6901 headers didn't fit with the AOD. I wanted a manual anyway but I had a choice at the time. It ended up costing more for me to install the manual than it would have to put in the AOD with modified or custom headers.

I'll try it out, the headers are used so I'm not too concerned with damaging them. For the first test fit I had to bend the driverside about 1" out. Using nothing more then a large round steel pipe I got the header roughly where it needs to be. Today I'll bolt the other side on and take pics of the process, maybe a video.

    update

Few issues ,had to cut a few mounting points off that are not used while installed. Had to bend the passengerside out along with the driverside. Driverside is really close to the cable shifter bracket. I've taken the spacers out since then whiched moved the bracket up about .30". Headers still close to the 4r70w? will I have heat issues

    pics.

Those horizontal tabs can be cut off of the transmission. They don't really serve a purpose. The one close to the starter may give you problems unless you protect it and if it's close to the linkage, I have to assume it's close to the MLP sensor. That will cause problems if it's damaged.
