Anybody got the wiring diagram for the headlights? I have no voltage at the headlight, and full voltage at the dimmer switch on all three wires at the same time, brand new dimmer switch. I would think you would only have voltage at the dimmer on two wires at a time, I.E. the feed and one load, low or high beam, at any time, possible that the new dimmer switch is bad. All voltage stops when you cut off the light switch, as it should. Parking and tail lights work correctly. I'm thinking there must be a wiring problem between the dimmer switch and the headlights themselves, but I have not found any cut wires in the harness. Bypassing the dimmer with a jumper, still no lights, bulbs are good. Maybe a harness plug unplugged that I'm missing somewhere, or what? Any ideas?

Thanks Jeff. Looking at the diagrams, I don't see any reason for there to be voltage at all three terminals on the dimmer switch except a bad switch [Just think, a new switch that's bad, unbelievable :rofl2:]. I think my other problem has to be between the dimmer and the headlights themselves. Where, I don't know.....

Are your grounds good at the headlights?

I replaced a new fuel pump that had only 20 miles on it. I guess they don't make them like they use to. It's getting to the point wher junkyard parts are better than new parts. Sounds like a direct ground inside the switch is causing you to read voltage at all 3 terminals.

Yes. I have no voltage at the plug on any terminal
That's what I'm thinking on the dimmer switch. Now if I can just find out where the break is. Could the firewall plug be corroded causing a break in the system? Everything else going thru that plug works....

That's on my list of "to-do's" for tomorrow, Frank. Also going to try to unplug the firewall plug and try to clean the terminals there. Will check for voltage there first....

Finally got around to getting back hunting this problem. I discovered two ground wires not attached, down low about level with the bumper. I didn't undo them, and don't know who did, but I went ahead and bolted them down. Now I have headlights! I don't know how I missed these two before. Only thing now is, I lost my parking lights! I know that they're grounded, can't figure out what happened with them. Also. my turn signals flash really fast, like a light was out, and now they've quit working in front! One step forward, two back:slap:

Edit: I just went back and checked the grounds on the parking lights. I was almost positive that they were grounded, but it turns out they had lost ground! I fixed that right quick with a small drill bit and two small stainless bolts. I bet they won't rust away my ground! Now every light works normally, head, tail, stop, turn, and parking. Now I can do some after dark cruising!

Glad to hear you got it working. Nothing is better than a cheap fix and after dark cruising.
