ok so my headliner is torn in a few places(unrepairable) and i was wondering if it would look worse than it does now with just the roof showing? the headliner has one big split all the way across from pass-drive side, and a few other tears, this will eventually get replaced.

In my opinion it would look worse. Depends on how far it is hanging down now.

If you search the interweb, book stores, and your local library for custom interior work, you can find out how to install a modern headliner that doesn't use bows. It's actually pretty easy, but really messy. Lots of spray on glue.... You can use the glue in a rattle can if you don't want to pony up for a professional type pneumatic glue gun. The glue in the rattle cans just won't last as long. If you don't mind fixing it every couple of years or so, then it's not a big deal.
