I'm almost ready to do the headliner. I have the windshield opening clean and the area around it sanded ready for primer. I am having to do this in stages cause I need to get the glass out of the house. Anyway, I discovered some plastic pieces on the pillars, one broken and missing. What do you guys do for that? Fold the liner and glue it maybe? This has to be done a week before Thanksgiving so I am trying to get the liner started so the glass can go in.
im interested in this info as well. ive done one headliner and in my experience, i had problems getting all of the wrinkles completely out as for the plastic peice on the pillars, i took it out, installed the headliner and reinstalled them. to the best of my knowledge, they just clip back into place and hold that small edge of the headliner down
i did find this article after a quick google.... http://www.mustangmonthly.com/proje..._mustang_hardtop_headliner_install/index.html
I'm getting ready to do mine too, its in the mail right now. I looked at that plastic clips and I don't think I'll save mine either. But, I don't think its necessary. I did one headliner before -- a Beetle. No clip there. Where the headliner ends on the posts, its just folded under on itself and glued well. That's what I plan on doing on the Maverick.
i know i have some.... getting them off safely is the key. ill try tomorrow and let u know, since ill be up at the junkyard taking parts off anyways
Gene... Remember to install any screws your going to use to hold stuff on...Like...Sunvisors/dome light,etc... BEFORE you install the headliner...This way you can find the holes when you need em instead of poking holes in a new headliner where you dont need em.
