Remove the bottom of the dash.
Disconnect all of your wires, vacuum lines etc.-label them.
You have a few nuts that need to come off the firewall behind
the engine. It is easier with the front passenger seat(s) out.
The entire assembly will come out.
You do have to discharge your A/C and remove those pressurized
    lines to do this properly.

I bought my core from Advance Auto. I don't know the availability
of parts in Estonia, but you can order them online. They should be
less than $40/US. I don't know if they are interchangeable with other
    cars.

    Best of luck,

    Seth

    Tnks, Seth!

I have the entire assembly in my trank allredy (y)
the availability of parts in Estonia is ok, but the time is another question, aprx. one month and the car is sleeping true the winter with some other old US cars in garage. I'll tcheck this Advanced Auto.

if you still want to drive the car and do the repair later. you can take the two heater hoses off the block and run a short hose from one outlet to the other. that way you are bypassing the heater all together. it will not hurt anything to hook it up this way. you just want have a heater...frank...

You can also try "Aluma-Seal" a powdered aluminum sealer that won't clog the core. There are a couple of others - "Bars-Leak" makes a powdered copper sealer that comes in a liquid base that has no Sodium Silicate in it and it is supposed to work well too.

It's a pain, sure. I took off my lower dash for better access. I am able to do this without disconnecting the AC. Romove the brackets under the hood so you can pull the AC hoses through the firewall as much as possible, and split the heater box while still in the car. It can be done pretty easily. R-12, if you can find it in the states, is about $50 a pound. Good incentive not to discharge the AC, if you ask me....

The heater core is the same as a 69-70 Mustang with air.

As the old saying tell :where the problem is major, there a help is near byOur forum member is helping me out  .The heater core is fixed and tested under the pressure. He is fixed own '74 Pontiac LeMans radiator and heater core to. Tomorrow I put back the assambly.
To Max power:The AC hoses are not so long and how do you think to open this heater box clipses from the firewall side, 6 pieces in wery difficult places. I release AC hoses from the pump and the oil reservuar therefore houses on this top are stronger then the evaporator cores side. And I do not disconnect all vacuum hoses.

Reach around. I've done it a number of times, you can too. Of course, you can probably still get R-12 there for a reasonable price.
