i want to say hello and i'm glad i found this board.
i own a 73 Comet GT that has been in my family for years.it's been setting out back minus the engine for at least 10 years.i remember riding in it when i was a kid and my dad teaching me to drive in that car!
the problem is not knowing where to start fixing it up.are there any good reference books or catalogs that cover Mavericks/Comets?
    any help would be appreciated
    thanks,
    '73 Comet GT

send for an auto krafters catalog for 70-77 maverick and 71-77 comet, start by looking for soft spots in sheet metal, and this forumn is a good place to start.Read through old post answers may be there if not just ask I am sure someone will have the answer

Howdy and :Welcome: There are no manuals on fixing up Mavericks, But there is a ton of reference books on fixing up Mustangs. Mechanical wise, they are pretty much the same. Plus all the basics can be applied to any car.

I found a homemade crack pipe in my '73 when i got it. I think it explains alot about the shape that car was in, too.

I know what you mean. My '94 Escort was formerly owned by a crack head. NASTY! I had to gut the interior, paint the floor, and replace the carpet. I threw all the plastic interior parts in the bath tub and scrubbed 'em. I think someone pissed in that car. Crack-heads are disgusting. I got the car dirt-cheap and had no intention of actually driving it....Until the gas prices soared. Now I drive it every day...
