My name is Brad, and Im 17 hoping I can get some help for my 1974 Maverick. It has a 200 ci 6 cylinder. It has been sitting in a neighbors garage for a long time, and me and my Dad have been trying to get it going. The engine runs okay after the little single barrel carb was rebuilt by me and my Dad, but it was more complicated than we thought. We can't seem to find the correct "donut" gasket for the exhaust, and it's REALLY loud. We have put 2 or 3 on there, but they blow out inside of 2 weeks. Everytime we go to get a new one, nobody has it, or it's the wrong size. We went to check the timing on it the other night, and could'nt find a mark on the pulley for the strobe...It runs really well, so it can't be that far off...We had to replace the radiator with one from a mustang off of e-bay, which fixxed the leak, but now, not always, the radiator "regurgitates" violently. So our questions are....1) Can anyone give us a proper part number for the "donut" gasket that goes between the flange at the exhaust manifold and the pipe? 2) What is making the radiator violently regurgitate sometimes, but not all the time? I told my Dad not to take the radiator cap off, but he did anyway...He's very impatient, but it was funny! Took us a while to find the cap after that....My Dad works on airplanes at the airport, and rebuilds vintage British motorcycles, so we have a good shop. Thanks for the help....Brad in Hiram (Atlanta) Georgia.
