Hello! I just purchased a 73 Grabber- feel like I just jumped in the deep end, lol. My mom had a Maverick in the 70's that I remember sitting in 1980 as a toddler pretending to drive. I had no idea these cars were still around! Bought mine as an impulse buy, couldn't resist. I am going to need a lot of advice- like where to take this baby to a trusted mechanic that does great work on Mavericks. I'm in the San Fernando Valley, no stranger to LA and OC.
Did I pay too much?? Wow, looking at the photos many of you have of your Mavericks, a lot of love and money has been spent on them. I was wondering how much some of you have paid on Grabbers RECENTLY? I just purchased mine the other day in California for $1800- it's pictured in my avatar. Is this just outrageous already? The engine is strong- V8 351. Paint job is cool, though it's not in prestine condition. Interior is ok, back seat is better than the front that has some tears. The ceiling interior is held together by safety pins. All four tires do not match! I realize now you can get some pretty clean amazing ones for $5k or so. I just didn't have that sort of budget. 55k is what the odometer reads, but no verification this hasn't rolled over. Got it from somebody who bought it at an auction, clean title. I'd upload some pics, but I just started posting here, the site doesn't let me yet....
1,800 is right on the market, our cars out here typically fetch more because the bodies are usually rust free. Now with a 351W(if it was installed right) you might have gotten a great deal. You cant upload pictures until you have 10 posts. But you can on photobucket/imageshack. Then use the "BB code/IMG code" they give you and post them that way.
hmm, having problems uploading....though it could be the settings here on this particular computer, can't upload a lot of things. I will post some pics momentarily. I'm actually picking up my car this weekend from the seller....what's the deal with insurance coverage on these? My other vehicle was wrecked while sitting parked in the street (no I don't have a garage!) So many questions...excuse my newbie-ness!!
My friend was laughing at me, said all my prized possessions (amps, guitars- and now this Grabber) are all older than me, nothing is even from the 80's. Hahah. Of course this means my collection is AWESOME! (yay, 10th post.....)
