Hi. My name's Mike and I have '74 two door 250 6. I have owned the car for a little over two years and just got it running again after a long winter. Three things I would like to get done before next winter are...converting the front drums to disc brakes, electronic ignition conversion and getting rid of the hideous large bumpers and replace with small. Getting rid of the baby blue paint will probably have to wait a while! Any info anyone can offer on the brake conversion would be appreciated (what brand of kit, how much to spend, new master cylinder?). Has anyone used fiberglass bumpers? Where might I be able to find original small bumpers? Thank you!
Hi Mike .................welcome from Wisconsin ................ An excellent way to get rid of points is the pertronix I kit. No additional wiring is needed for the "one" series, it just gets rid of the points and will run fine on stock voltage. The search function here at the forum will be your best ally once you get the hang of it. There are 100's of threads on those conversions. Search - GRANADA DISC (or DISK) - brake conversion - small bumper conversion - pertronix You will find everything you ever wanted to know here and more ................. Oh, and post pictures - we love pictures.
from Atlantic Canada! Like Eric said, look for stuff through the search engine on the forums here. I bought the Pertronix for mine. It all fits under the distributor cap--nice and clean! I was lucky to find later Maverick/Granada spindles for my disc swap and just bought all new brakes/hardware from Rock Auto. There are some kits out there that use your current 5-lug drum spindles and brackets that use later Mustang Cobra brakes. Let's see some pictures!
