Hey All! I am just so excited!! In two weeks not only am I getting my very first Maverick, but my first Classic car!! Its a 1971 250 Straight Six , 2 Door ,C4 Automatic. It has 92,000 original miles, FACTORY(yeah really)Air-conditoning, Power Steering, AM Radio, Vinyl top(which is, like others, peeling from sun damage), Grabber Blue paint(with some oxidation on the hood)....It has had a lot of work done under the hood, including..new head gasket, carburator, fuel pump, water pump, brake lines, brakes, hoses, belts, points, plugs, wires, cap and rotor and universal joint, five tires....the interior is in Great condition with bench seat...I am planning to peel off the vinyl top and flat black it and the hood for now...I want to fix it up, but not do a restore...I like the rat rod look...I would like to make it look tough without messing with the original interior (i.e. AM radio, door handle, knobs, gauges...etc...) The only modernization that I want is a CD player (and maybe AOD) but dont want to start ripping at the orginal interior...Anyway, Please send me any ideas that you guys have to help me out...I don't want it to look like a "chick car"...lol...Help Me Out!!Oh, I am getting it for $1600,do you think that is a good price considering all that I mentioned...and by the way, it does not have any dents in the body... Thanks Xtasea
Hi Xtasea, to the board. It's great to have another female member here and especially one that seems to know quite a bit about cars and knows the direction she wants to go. There are several other female members here and they are very much like you...into their Mavericks/Comets (can't forget about CometPrincess) and have some really great cars. Of course, ALL Mavericks and Comets are great cars. Well, I too have a Grabber Blue 71 Mav as you can see by the photo to the left. It's a great color and attracts a lot of attention. If you would like to take a peek at more of my photos click on the following link. http://community.webshots.com/user/rayzorsharp Again, welcome to the board and let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Enjoy your time here and please post some pics as soon as you can of your car...we love pics.

welcome to the board. sounds like a great project. if it's as nice as you describe, i'd say you got a good deal. hope it works out for you. these are fun cars.
Welcome. Sounds like you got a great platform to start on and did ok on the price also. Feel free to call upon us anytime.
Welcome to the board Xtasea. It sounds like you found yourself a real nice Maverick. There's plenty of great folks here who can offer good advice if you ever need it. When you get the car, be sure to post some pics of it. We would all love to see it.
Welcome...I am a newbie here as well. I too just purchased a classic and although it isn't perfect yet I love it. It is all original. Its a 1963 Comet that the owner won in a grocery store contest in 1953. She lived near my great-grandmother. The car is all original and nearly everything works, including the a/c. Even the interior is in mint condition and it was a steal. I am having trouble with headlights and the heater switch and cannot seem to find anyone who knows much about either yet but I am sure one of these nice men here will get around to helping me sooner or later. Your car find sounds like a decent enough deal. Can you do any of the work yourself? Because if you can you need to grab it as soon as you can. Older cars are so much easier to work on, are usually more economical, unless you are going to make it a hotrod, and can be such a pleasure to drive. And don't forget you can't get the pleasure from a new car that an older car can give you. I wish you the best in your new adventure and I hope you have a smile on your face the entire ride. Michelle
Thanks Michelle Hey Michelle...I am glad to hear that you too found a great car...12 days and counting for me to get mine...I will post some pics as soon as I get them...I can hardly believe how I found it...My hubby is a true car nut and always had a few "project" cars at one time when we lived in Louisiana...He had car guy friends out there...well we moved out here last March and believe it or not, after only 2 months out here he found a 60 yr old guy that he bonded with...the guy has a car garage that is about twice the size of his house...filled to overflowing with Fords...this car was his son's and they did alot of work to it...He is the type of guy that loves cars and it would kill him to see one rot...My hubby met him through an ad about a car and he called to tell us about the Maverick...the guy lives 70 miles away...I just think that it is cool how car guys always find eachother...lol
