Actually, not true, I grew up with a 72 v8 non-grabber, but just purchased a 73. It's a converted 6 cyl, Edelbrock high-rise, 4 barrel, headers, dual exhaust, automatic. Amazing to drive a manual steering again
I believe I have found a parts car also. 72 6 cyl, asking $600. It looks pretty rough, hopefully the bumpers aren't damaged. The windows are intact, Grabber hood and the tail flares.... Not running... Is it worth more? I was going to offer him $400.
from central VA! A Grabber hood and the Grabber spoiler, if in good condition would be worth the $600 asking price. Looking at your screen name, do you live in NC? If so, I'm hosting a MCCI (Maverick Comet Club International) Mini Meet on Saturday, October 24th in Chatham, VA (just a little bit north of the NC border). It starts at 3:00 PM and goes until dusk. It would be a great chance to drive and show off your new ride and talk with some other Maverick and Comet guys. Let me know if you need anymore information.
Welcome to the group. The 72 Maverick was my first car and now I am trying to get one to replace it. Thanks for sharing.
It is held in conjunction with the monthly Chatham, VA cruise-in which usually draws 300 - 700 cars, depending on the weather. They block off Main Street in the town and park the cars on both sides of the road. Lots of nice cars to look at and several eating places along Main Street. Last year was the first year and we had 11 cars attend (6 Mavericks and 5 Comets). I'm hoping for more cars this year. Here is a link to the MCCI Facebook page. It has all the info about the Mini Meet in it. https://www.facebook.com/maverickcometclub?fref=ts I hope that you can come hang out with us!
