    1970 Maverick 2 Dr I6
I am the proud secound owner of a bone-stock, very clean 1970 Maverick 2 dr with an I6 & three on the tree. My long term plans for the car are to convert to a 351W stroker, 4 wheel discs, O/D trans,or 5 spd man trans, Mustang II type suspension/steering, etc etc... I have located a 1971 Mercury Comet V8 3Spd, as a parts car **Questions: 1) Will the Comet Hood (Has Scoop) Fit he Maverick? 2) Will the Parking Lamps Mounted in Grille of Comet be able to wire into the 70 Maverick wiring harness? 3) Is the transmission crossmember(Man Trans) from the V8 Comet, the same for an Automatic? 4) Would the 8 inch rearend from the V8 Comet(5 Lug) be a better swap versus a 9 inch from a Granada or Lincoln Versailles? Plan on a 400-450 hp engine* Well, that enough questions for now! I would appreciate any help or guidance from other Maverick Lovers.

welcome to the board. the hood is not the same. someone else may know if you can use it providing you change the grill. i think you would be on the edge using the 8". with about 450hp and a manual tranny i'd prefer the 9".:)i researched through the archives and craig selvey replied to another post that you need to change the grill, part of the grill support, possibly the front splash apron and the bumper to use the comet hood on a maverick.
