I'm not sure if re-posting this helps but I will do it anyway. I am an owner of a 1974 Maverick that was given to me from my grandfather in 1983 when I turned 16 and I now 42 (43 in 4 days ugh). When I got the car it only had 42,000 miles on it and it now has 108,000 and still runs great although the body now has lots of rust on it and the interior needs lots of work. My son and I are slowing doing a restore and we are currently in need of the radiator fan shroud for our straight 6, 250 motor. I know this is a difficult part to come by but is there any compatible shrouds that will fit, from a Ford V8 perhaps? I know the fan does not sit in the center of the radiator like the V8 does but I am very good at fabrication as I did fabrication and design at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 10 years so moving the radiator would be easy for me. So here's the big question, which fan shroud would fit my radiator? 302, 289 or what others? I have A/C and the top hose is on the passenger side (right) while the bottom hose is on the drivers side(left), I am trying to avoid getting the electrical fan but if I have to then I guess I don't have a choice. thanks for any advice!

if you can fabricate, then take a sheet of alum. brake the edges to form a box that covers the core then cut the center out to clear the fan. make a couple of them and they would sell pretty well on this site

Don't know if you can tell by the pic but I took a piece of .035 aluminum and just bent it in an arc so that it surrounded the fan on my 200. You'll find some places around the bottom and sides of the radiator that can be used to create "tabs" to screw sheet metal screws into. This'll save fabricating a box and having to cut out a hole and worked really well. While I've since gone to an electric fan I've kept the piece in case the electric fan craps out on me and I need to go back to an engine fan.

I was told that the 302 radiator in the '70s has the same bolt pattern as the 250 radiator, the only difference was the 250 is shifted over because the fan does not sit on the middle of the car like the V8 does so shifting over the shroud would be simple, even moving the radiator over an inch is possible.
