help with the torque conveter?

    since the tranny is geting a new shift kit im going to swap the torque converter with a better i want it to be able to go on the track and drive it on the street with no worries of wearing it out so i need help in choosing a good torque converter that will satisfy my needs any help ?

    what gear, tire, cam, intake, heads? what do you want to do? limited hwy usage? use every day, occasional cruiser?

    Try these converters:

    or you can look around and get something cheaper. These people build their own converters. They are top quality and you pay for that. You will be able to find cheaper but never better.

    i want to be able to take it on the street and be able to still be able to have a car with heat on the track. but right now i want to bulid up the tranny before i do the 5.0 H.O swap into my mav and i have plans to put a blower so im just trying to built a bullet proof tranny and differential.so you could say hwy limited but still some what streetable.

    I would plan on running an external tranny cooler with any aftermarket converter.

    If you have a stock engine and stock tranny then you can use a 2000 stall.
    With a fairly stock engine,smooth or nearly smooth idle and a good shift kit in the tranny a 2500 stall will be fine for most cars 2500 to 4000 pounds.
    If the cam is a bit more radical and has a lope at idle and no less than 10" of vacuum at an idle a 3000 - 3500 stall works. If you have anything more radical than that then you need professional help in choosing your torque converter.
