Hey guys, its nice to know that there are a lot of people who enjoy mavericks as much as I do. I have a delema, I got my first maverick a year ago and it was a 1970 that someone had stuffed a 302 into. I then bought another maverick, 1970 but this one has original motor, transmission, and differential and all the other good stuff. Body is in good condition no rust and interior is good but is lacking headliner. any way my problem is that I dont know whether to keep it original or to customize it to my liking. I plan on keeping the car for a long time and am afraid I will make a bid desicion and regret it later.

Josh, there are no bad decisions when it comes to fixing up your Maverick. Fix it like YOU want it. It's considered a restomod if you modify it from factory and I'll tell you right now, some of the restomod cars are bringing as much if not more than originals. Also, you'll get much more attention with the restomod. That's why these cars never really took off in the past because of their stock appearance (on the most part). I say, "Fit it like you want" and keep em forever.

do whatever is going to make you happy. i prefer the restomod myself. if you want attention with the original your going to have to change some stuff anyway. such as paint, wheels, possibly grabber hood. interior. hey that,s a restomod.:slap:

Since Mavericks are not bringing in big dollars in stock form, do what ever you want. Even if they were, I'd still build mine to suite me. I have A Sprint which is one of the rarest Mavericks, and its so far from stock, Iacocca wouldnt reconize it.

Josh, what I like about these cars is it's one of the only cool old cars that you can do about anything you want to and not worry about it bringing less money because it's not "original". Infact, I would say the more custom you make it the more money your going to get back out of it.

I believe these cars are one of a kind in the world of vintage cars.

Personally, once I get my hands on one, I will probably NEVER sell it. It would not surprise me a bit if I still have the same car 50+ years from now.

It's cool to see more guys around my age getting into cars like this. Before I found this forum I thought I was probaby one of the only 17 year olds that couldn't STAND ricers.

    :Welcome: to the forum!
