When im just starting off my car has a hesitation like its not getting enough gas and starts to stall, when i take my foot off the gas and put it back on the pedal it seems fine. could it just be that the carb needs to be adjusted? it has a stock 302 with manual 3 speed. also in 2nd, and 3rd when i give it a certain amount of gas, the car runs a lot different almost like its missing but if i give it any less gas or anymore it runs fine. could this also be the carb?

I would pull a spark plug to see what's going on in the chamber. check spark output while you're there, preferably with a spark tester, but you can open the gap on the plug and have someone crank it over while holding the plug against the engine as well.

A lean mixture immediately at throttle opening is usually due to accelerator pump adjustment, shooter size too small, or leaking pump.
