Well yay for me today I got a 73 maverick. (isn't it odd thats its on mav's birthday?) its poop brown in color, has 32,000ish miles on it, and needs alot of work, it has the straight 6 in it with the auto. I got few questions, I know its very possible to do the v8 conversion, but i was wonder if its possible to do v8 manual conversion? also are there any place where i can buy new or restored outside trim? like those chrome strips and stuff. I'll try to get some picks up this weekend, also is anyplace i can look up history of the car?

Welcome to the board, my '72 Comet came with a V-8 automatic. Converted it to a 4 speed using '68 Mustang pedals and linkage.

V8 conversion is OK and standard conversion is easy if you get the proper parts to do it... as far as info about car, contact FORD... customer service division... at 16800 Executive Plaza drive, dearborn ,,MI... they have a toll free number but I can't find it rite now ... all you need to give then is the VIN and they will send a small report explaining all the VIN and options about that car...takes about 2 weeks to receive the info... good luck RON... oh ya, welcome to the board, lots of info here(y)

sometimes NOS trim or used trim shows up on e-bay ,,, but your best bet is from parts cars or other members in the MCCI...you should join if your not a member as there is a newsletter that goes to all members and sometimes there is the parts you want there... just send a mess in the parts wanted section of maverick .com... godd luck finding everything you need
