check out this one on eBay, yes the one wire will work fine, alternator like one below tells you how to remove OEM harness and hook up one wire. just make sure when you order one to specify correct pulley....

there maybe higher amperage 1G alternators listed, but the 3G ones will work, but you may have to modify the bracket as it is slightly larger than the 1G........

Upgrade to a 3g alt should solve your problem. They come in amp ratings well over 200 amps. And they will fit anywhere a 1g will. You can find good used ones at your local salvage yard and at a very reasonable price. Just make sure to get the connecting plugs and harness and the inline fuse as you will need that.
If it has a serpentine pulley your stock pulley can be swapped to it.

Just go to a junkyard and grab the newest looking 3G you can find off any 90's Taurus/Sable/Mustang. Take a tape measure and make sure you get one with the 7" pivot spacing. If you really want added insurance, toss a new voltage regulator on it, since 9 times out of 10 the voltage regulator fails long before anything else on them. I buy practically new 3G's out of the local pull a part yards here all the time for 20 bucks. I've got 5 of them up on the shelf in my garage in addition to 3 more in use on my vehicles, all from the junkyard. You'd be surprised how often people stick a new alternator on a car and then junk it..

I hope you're planning on up grading the wiring, otherwise you'll likely have a flaming Maverick...

The 3g comes in large case and small case versions. Get the small case version and it will fit anywhere a 1g will fit. It's actually a little smaller than the 1g. And since it has an internal fan you don't need the external fan. Just reuse your old pulley.
Don't forget to add the fuse or you might have system meltdown.

if you want cheap power just run dual alternaters, or run 2 batterys parallel.

pm me, if you want a new 200 amp g3 alternator,
i installed and did a write up on upgrading one, and i ended up going serpentine sence i had to pull my engine, i have a 200 amp alt with the pulley and the proper wiring pigtail in my garage, i ran it for 1 hour before i set it on the shelf.
alternators that go on fuel injected vehicles are great for stereos, you have a higher voltage at idle to accommodate the ecu.
