This morning it looked like I would be able to make the opener on Sunday. This afternoon, not so much. Went to fire it and no starter engagement. I have a small gear reduction starter in it that lists for mid '90s trucks and Broncos. It's a two bolt 10 tooth starter. I need the small starter for header clearance and for a internal solenoid. I don't want to mount an external solenoid on the inner fender panel. The problem is the C-4 is the original '74 Mav and the 5.0 is an '86. So, I can't just look up a starter in the parts book. Anyone have any recommendations? Jim
There are PMGR starters that work, I have one on my Comet that has '91 5.0 & orig C4... I bought mine from ebay for the 157T C4, it determines what starter fits, not the engine...
the one on my car is from a 95 mustang 5.0 and Im running a rebuilt but original c4 was a christmas gift but autozone is where the wife and kid got it for $150. I saw this later on http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-9936-...arter-302-351-higher-torque-3205-sfd0001.aspx
Good info, guys. Thanks. I'll see if I can figure this out today. If I can get the starter fixed all I have left is to install the Caltracks, weigh the car and get it aligned.
The starter fit mid '90s Broncos and pickups. The part number from O'Reiley was 5310. The one that worked was a 5308 for a '95 Mustang 5.0.
