So I broke the timing belt on my wifes 92 Honda Accord on Thanksgiving. I've been trying since to get the stupid crankshaft pulley bolt broken on it. Cruising the interwebs, reading forums, browsing youtubes. I tried the big-honkin impact wrench, I got out the breaker bars, and the 5' lead pipe. I did all the reasonable things. And was beginning to search for un-reasonable solutions (bumping the starter with a breaker bar on the bolt type stuff).

Well I found this Crankshaft Pulley holder tool for $25... and I'm thinking...

What the hell is wrong with the Honda community that this isn't the first GD thing they list for tools on their tech articles and videos. :naughty: Well hopefully next week I'll get to find out if this motors toasted or not now.

That's a pre-chain interference engine. The NON V-Tec's have really low lift cams though and I've seen them go both ways depending on the rpm that they break at.

Back off all the cam follower adjusters so that there are no valves being held open and perform a leak down or compression test. Or just apply compressed air thru the spark plug hole, and listen for major leaks (which indicates a bent valve).
