I just changed hood on my car. I have a nice 1/8 inch gap between the hood and both fenders, the front of the hood lines up with the front of the fenders, but I have about 5/16 inch gap at the cowl. Is that about right? I tried to get it closer to the cowl but the hood binds a very small amount on the cowl and the center of the hood. Is there supposed to be that big of a gap? The hood is off of a 70 and mine is a 74. The only differance I can see is where the hole is for the prop rod. Thanks in advance. Russ

Sounds bout right to me on the adjustment of the hood. You might have a wide gap at the back of the hood near the cowl if the fenders are wide from the front of the doors. I generally use the front of the fenders as the guide to adjust the hood, as you have done. You can push it back just a smidge, but you might not like the alignment of the hood in reference to the front of the fenders.

As I have learned over the years....Mavericks won't pass the "ball-bearing" test. Just have to get everything as close as you can, parts still open smoothly, and it looks as good as possible. Requires a little fudging here and there.

You just dont have the right size ball bearings.
