Hood Hinge Repair

    76 Small Bumpered Maverick(sold), 691/2 Maverick, 55 Ford Club Sedan, 65 Fairlane 500 Hardtop, 1960 Galaxie Club Sedan
    Anyone ever attempt to replace the "pins" that hold the hood hinge together? Am looking to take my hinges apart and resize all the holes and install new pins to get my hinges to work as new.

    Did you look into the repair kits sold in auto parts stores? I bought mine from NAPA and they comes with new bushings and pins - I just didn't install them yet :)

    I didnt know there was such a kit. Decided to take the hinge apart and braze the worn area of the holes then refile them to fit the old pin, will weld that pin to the body of the hinge. I did get some very skinny flat washers to go between the hinge body and the arms, seems there was some slop there.

    Me too, beat them up... Blasted and painted. Used to have a lot of slop side to side, probably a 1/4 of what it was

    I know a Guy that bought NOS hinges and right out of the box they were as loose as the ones he already had on the car...:yup:
