I have a totally dent free hood lip trim piece I need to get looking better, it is nasty looking, I used some metal polish (eagle brand) and it cleaned it up somewhat but was kinda tough to bring out the shine, did the hood lip trim have a coating on them? it acts like it is some sort of coating and partially coming off and that's what makes it look so bad, any suggestions as to what will clean it but not damage it?

Oookkkay, upon further examination of the part I discovered it did indeed have a coating on it, clear coat, seems someone clear coated a hood with the trim on it, a little chemical dip and off it came, before and after pics.....

Those are anodized from the factory. Some people strip off the anodizing with a chemical, possibly oven cleaner. Do your own research before doing this. Then they polish the aluminum to a super shine, better than original.
