I am using the kinds shown in this pic. The round spring-loaded portion doesn't want to come all the way back down, and the pins come out pretty easily by hand, just pulling on the lanyard.

Any fix, or do I have to buy new ones?

If so, is any brand better than the others?

I used those pins on my work trailer, and found they wear out where the wire (ring) spins in the metal pin part. Cheap to replace.

OK, No problem with replacing them every few years.

Your description of how they are worn fits my problem.

Definitely cheaper to replace than a hood and windshield, when those critters work their way out.

I had two set like yours that broke or wore out also.

I replaced them with the cotter pin style. No probs.

If I don't find a set that lasts longer than a year or two, I will switch to a different style, as well.
