12/25/04 Does anyone have hood pins on their hood? If so, what worked best for you? I'm considering putting those sold by Branda Shelby. Thanks! RV
When I first got my Mav back in '73 I had hood pins on it, the kind with the round ring that folds over the stud to "lock" it down. I thought they looked good. The car was in an accident and I had to get another hood, never reinstalled the pins, though. Often wondered how the flush-mount key lock style would look on a Mav.
a friend of mine has the key lock style on his nova. they look really good. i have the regular hood pins that flip over on the fiberglass hood on the racecar. i say if the car is a street car or show car the key locks look a lot better. i like the ease of the flip over ones on the racecar.
I put the twist loc type on the 77 (same as the mustang 70-73 type) they fit close to flush mount. it took some careful measuring and a little fabrication, but all minor.
20+ years ago, I put (for lack of better description) the clothes pin type on, round on one end pushes through the pin sticking through the hood. If I put new ones on, I'll put the same kind back on. If nothing else it's a nostalgia(?) thing with me. When I put them on it was what all the drag cars and most street cars were running. And I liked them and still do.
I agree...thats what is on my car....I bought little Masterlocks that fit in them when the car is put up. I use the pins when I am running the car. I like the look, but I need to buy a better set. This cheap ones I bought from PEP Boys has got to go.
5946: good lookin MAV, Yeah that's the ones I'm talking about' I didn't have a picture that would show them.
