heres the deal im trying to repair my grabber hood and theres a lot of little rust holes that need filled on the supports.i dont what to uses body filler because it just dosent do the job and will fall out in time with slamming hood down so i dont want to go that rout. I dont want to braze it either because i dont want to warp the metal on top of the hood so i need somthing that is sturdy that can hold up.
    i need sugestions thanks

If you mig/tig the holes you wont warp it.The heat is very centralized.

I would weld too. If you have a wire welder, get in some practice on some scraps to get the right feel for it and get the right heat and speed settings. What you want to do is use short bursts to fill in the holes, not burn bigger holes into the already thin metal. The short bursts will not cause warpping of the top skin. If you are still worried, you can also use clay stuck onto the skin of the hood right where you are welding at. The clay pulls out any stray heat.

    :thumbs2:

I have to add........... somebody on here was using a mixture of rust bullet and fiberglass cloth bits to patch up tiny holes. I wonder how that would work here ........ :hmmm:

be sure to gring off any paint in the areas you will weld in,as well as clearing out and treating as much of the rust as possible in the area you need to repair.do the rust treatment after the welding is done...
