Anyone using an after market hood scoop?

I need clearance for the Holley 350 2bbl on the 250 ci six.

    Any ideas? Pics???

    Thanks!

I tried a 8" diameter, 2" high air cleaner, and the stud hits the hood.

I have to "clearance" the sheet metal!

I even tried a low profile carb hat from classic inlines, still too high!

I have to cut the hood!!!

Your hood scoop looks great, by the way!

Just not sure it's wide enough.

I'm thinking of using an offset base aircleaner coming through the hood, w/ a 2" high air filter.

So, maybe a 16-18" wide hood scoop???

You can use a small air cleaner, then make an offset pan with foam to make the hood scoop functional.

I have the exact same air cleaner, the wing nut hits the the hood. I have to cut the hood. But, I'm thinking an off set base w/ a low profile aircleaner will put me close to the center of the hood.

Take a look at the '73-'79 ford F-Series trucks with the 300 I-6 in them. They had an aircleaner that was a seperate cannister holding the air filter with a metal tube going to the carb. Something like that might work for you.

You must be using an adaptor to mount the Holley. Which adaptor do you have? I know classicinlines now has a low profile adaptor but don't know if it would still give enough hood clearance with the 250 motor...unless you really want to cut a hole in your hood.
