I am looking for help on how to open the hood on my recently aquired 1973 Ford Maverick Grabber. The previous owner said it needs the carb rebuilt, among other things, but I cannot get the hood open since I last closed it. So the battery is dead due to inability to start (bad carb) and now I cannot open the hood. Is there a quick fix or should I just get it towed away? Thanks for any help!
On my 74 I have the same problem due to the drivers side quarter panel being damaged. Squeeze the hood release handle and jockey/shake/rattle the hood. Mine will open that way. Good luck.
well if its the latch a 1/2 inch socket will do the trick theres 2 bolt on the top that bolts it to the hood or safety latch could have bent over and it n the way reach under the hood fell of the latch on the drivers side they should be a lil thing sticking out push it up or down cant remember......my safety latch done this to me and i fixed it and it done it a few time before it broke off
Try pressing down on the hood will pushing up on the hood release. Then after you get it open lube the latch assembly
I've tried pressing down and pushing up several times, but still no go. I'll look and see if it is the safety latch or I'll just get a socket wrench and try removing the two bolts. Thanks for your help. I'm anxious to get it running good and start restoring it.
