Am I correct in thinking the front hood trim has some sort of clear coat on it? I've been trying to polish it but I can't get it to shine like it should, being a piece of aluminum.

If it does have some kind of clear coat, what is the best way to remove it? Paint stripper?

It has an anodized coating. You can take some 1000 grit sand paper & take it off but it wont shine up.

You can buff it out with compounds and it'll shine like chrome, just take your time and be careful of bending it,if you have a old hood it's best to do it in place with a hand held buffer.
