hooker 6901 install problem

I am installing the headers into the maverick and they are in postion and everything they just need to be bolted on... the bolts start and get tight but they dont pull the header tight aganist the head... What would cause this?... and we tried the old bolt so we know the bolts arent to long

Old bolts will not work, as they were used to bolt on a THICKER exhaust manifold. A header had a thinner mounting area. If you can hold the header in postion...but can't get the bolt to do it....then they are too long.

 

i got my hookers in a box downstairs and i believe they come with new bolts...are you using the supplied ones or different ones?

 

My first thought was like Craig said. Original bolts too long.

 

I was using the ones supplied from hooker, and I am replacing hedman shorties with the hooker long tubes, not the original manifolds.

 

Can you hold/position the hookers so that the mounting flange is flush with the block?

 

Craig, yes Im pretty sure but will check again tomorrow...and not sure how long the bolts are.

 

For the 6901 headers your bolts are only 3/4" long!
