You can try Restoration Chrome. That's where I got mine. http://www.restorationchrome.com/ Just go to price list & look up Ford Maverick
Watch where you go to have it done. I've heard several disatisfied customers of Bumper Boyz. If there have been some satisfied customers here for Restoration, go with the recommendations. Qual Krome in Erie, PA has a good rep. I've heard several problems with Paul's near here in Evans City who is very expensive also.
bumper boyz SUCKS! i have been on a soapbox here before so i'll spare everybody. mr. rdb, if you want to know more about my experience with them, drop me a PM.
We have our chrome parts done by Tri-City Chroming and the quality is fantastic. You will pay a little more, but when it comes to re-chroming bumpers and other parts, you really do get what you pay for. For that reason, I can not recommend Bumper Boyz. One of our past customers sent a perfectly straight RoadRunner bumper to them for re-chroming because they were cheaper than anyone else. What he got back wasn't the same bumper he sent out. The one they sent him had a slight twist in it and the plating was so thin you could see the grinder marks all over it. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper.
Bumper Boyz...been trying to get a good bumper from them for 6 months now. They don't mind taking your money and don't give a damn after that. If I ever get a good rear bumper (waiting on my 3rd one now) I'll never EVER use them again.
Bumper Boyz does business on a replacement basis. They replate the cores they get and give you a stock item in exchange for the core you provide. I found this when I watched them at a swap meet. They do things on a mass production basis and that's where quality suffers. If you have a good core, go with Restoration, Tri Cities, or Qual Krome. At least you know that the core you sent them is the same one you'll get back.
I had both of my bumpers done by Qual Krome last year. They were very friendly and did a fantastic job. They were definitely not the cheapest(I think I paid around $300 for each bumper), that also included fixing a couple small dings. Just be careful if you are in a big hurry. They were very backed up last year when I sent them in...it took about 3 months to get them back, although they were honest about how long it would take up front.
Both bumpers on my 74 and the rear bumper on my 71 are from Bumper Boyz ... so far .. so good. The 74 bumpers are about 5 months old. The Rear bumper on the 71 is almost 3 years old ...
I talked to bumper boyz at moultrie,ga swap meet in nov. 2004 and they send all the cores down to mexico for the plating work, go figure!!!
That explains a lot. It's probably dirt cheap for them to have the re-chroming done south of the border. We were with the guy who had Bumper Boyz re-chrome his bumper when he picked it. Not a single one of the guys unwrapping the bumpers could speak a word of English.:16suspect
