I cleaned the metal part with soap and water, then degtreaSER and water then a light sanding, rattle can primer and rattle can paint 2X

On the plastic lower part of the dash, I did about the same butno sanding or primer. I used Fusion plastic paint.

I had the padded dash out, also the windshield. the plastic portion of the dash was a replacement form another car so it was also out of the car

For sanding...use 240 wetsand to knock down the original finish. Then prime...2 coats should be good... then sand with 320 or 400 you can do this wet or dry.(wet is better)then apply finish color to your likeing.follow instructions on paint cans for dry time/application.What ever primer you use use a finish product from the same manufacturer...dont mix and match paint systems.Just be sure everything is clean and dry before paint application.Try not to touch the surfaces to be painted with bare hands once you prep/sand the dash. You will leave fingerprints in your paint at the least if you do.Good luck!!!
