    Leaking water pump

I've got to take my newly installed water pump off and re-install because it's developed a leak between the pump and the block on my 200 six. What's been the best success any of you have had with the procedures to follow to ensure a good seal this time around?

First, make sure all parts are clean before you do anything else.
Make sure the mating parts are flat - remove any warpage before assembly.
If you do the first two items and everything is as good as new from the factory you won't need the following:
Put a thin coat of Loc-tite #518 on both sides of the gaskets. (.010")
Put a thin coat of #518 on the threads and under the heads of all the bolts.
Place the gasket on the block using alignment studs.
    Install the cover and dampener.
Bolt the cover in place tightening all bolts uniformly to specs.

Note: #518 is not a thread lock but it will seal the gasket and bolts against water, oil, ATF, Gear lube and steam. If you should have to remove the cover in the future it will be easy to remove and the sealant will come off with the gasket leaving a clean surface ready to reinstall.
