Hello everybody! i just tried my future car: a 76 mav' and what a blast! the seller and I agreed, and i should be able to come and get it on thursday or next week end. i'm really impatient. but, it has the big bumpers on it. what i'd liked to do would be something like that on the front: so, how do you call parts #1 and #2? and how do you fix them? and something like that on the back: how did the guy did that? i mean the part where the bumper should be. did he use fiber? how much would it cost to do the same back? thanks for you answer, i know i will have a lot more questions once i get the car!yahoo:
Part 1 is the front valence, and can be had in steel or composite. When doing a big to small bumper swap, there are a couple other pieces you will need. Gravel pan fits inside the bumper between the bumper and grill. There are some frame pieces for the valence. And you will either need new fenders or notch out the ones you have (do a search, there is good documentation of this on the forum) Piece 2 is a chin spoiler. Again a search on the forum will land you one. Same for the back, you will need the bumper, a rear valence (flat piece below the bumper) and a couple of braces for inside the trunk. The rear spoiler is called a "Grabber spoiler" and can be found pretty easy either on here or on eBay.
what's the difference between braces and brackets? are all those parts findable in a junk yard? (I prefere to see and touch what i'm buying) I live in Omaha, Ne, if that can help
your going to need to do the whole small bumper swap since your car is a 1976 and your trying to put a 1970-72 style front and rear on it part 2 is just an aftermarket chin spoiler run a search on "small bumper swap" on this forum i did the swap on my 76 as well, front and rear Before after
omaha? my inlaws live there. We visit on occasion. I looked at a red mav with black interior up there last year, it was at 86 lumber co. Same car? it was pretty straight.
